Making this a league for all levels and various
desired styles of play.
We pride ourselves on our unique policy
of adhering to all team's scheduling preferences as much as possible. Teams
are allowed to give their preferences for which days of the week they play
and teams may request a bye during weeks where they have players unavailable
(and play double headers or multiple days in other weeks), or request time
perameters on certain days throughout the season to accomodate team's/player's
other committments so that the majority of the team's core players are able
to play all or most games.
110 Teams played
this last Fall Season
We have teams from all over Utah participating in our
league.
( Teams traveling from long distances can request double headers every other
week to reduce travel.)
Field Location: West Jordan Middle School

be played in Sandy.

Print this form, have your players sign it and return it at your first
game.
Each
week you will also use this as your line-up. You will check the appropriae
box for players who play in each game. This will allow us to see how many
games each player participated in and to make sure the roster rules are being
followed.
A
Div players, playing on B or C teams, etc.- The
rules for A division players, playing on B or C teams, etc., during the playoffs
are as follows:
Two 5 on 5 A Division players can play on a 5 on 5 B team during the playoffs.
One 5 on 5 A Division player can play on a 5 on 5 C team during the playoffs.
Three 5 on 5 B Division players can play on a 5 on 5 C team during the playoffs.
Four 8 on 8 A Division players can play on a 8 on 8 B team during the playoffs.
Two 8 on 8 A Division players can play on a 8 on 8 B team during the playoffs.
Five 8 on 8 B Division players can play on a 8 on 8 C team durring the playoffs.
NOTE: Of course ALL players are only eligible to play
on teams during the playoffs if (and only if) they played at least 3 regular
season games with the particular team.
An "A" Division player is defined simply as any player who legally
plays on any A division team.
STATS-
If your teams wants stats recorded each week, all of your players must have
numbers and they must wear the same number every week. The refs will keep
stats during the game for all teams that want stats and who follow the roster/number
rules. The ref will give you a copy of your stats at the end of your game.
Someone from your team will need to enter your stats into your team's Stat's
Template and email it to Dustin at utahflagleague@xmission.com
no later than Monday night each week. Basically, you will simply enter all
your team's names and numbers into the Stat Template when you go to update
it after your first game, then you'll enter all the stats in the appropriate
columns, then you'll save it before sending it to Dustin each week. Then,
each subsequent week, you will just add on to the stats for each player in
the appropriate columns, and of course you'll add any new players into the
template each week, then you'll save it and send it to Dustin by Monday again.
After week 1, you will always be sending Dustin an UPDATED Team Stat Spreadsheet,
with the season totals for each player after adding the player's most recent
stats. Dustin just takes your spreadsheet that you send him each week and
copies and pastes it into a league template, so you never want to send him
stats for just that particular week. You need to keep updating it and adding
stats to the totals and by Monday each weeksend him the updated template with
your total stats for the whole season. If you have any questions on it please
call Dustin at 801-541-0856 so that you can make sure it's always done correctly.

BEST
SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS FOR FALL 08
There was a total of $50 collected this year
for fines (which is great) and we decided that it would be a nice incentive
for teams to give that money to teams that deserve the "Best Sportsmanship
Awards" as credit for future seasons or tournaments. It was very difficult
to come to a consensus for who deserved the award the most because with 96
teams, all of the refs only would have been able to officiate a limited amount
of teams a limited amount of times so we just had to talk about it as a group
and try to narrow it down the best we could. HONESTLY, there are most likely
some teams that deserve the award but because of the luck of the draw their
name may not have come up in our conversation because of how many games there
were with different officials. Please don't feel rejected if you are not listed
and you feel your team deserves it. We will continue to do this award each
season and hopefully this will offer an incentive to teams to learn from these
team who demonstrate true sportsmanship. I truly believe that we have the
best group of teams as far as sportsmanship goes of any league in the entire
country (espcially considering that we had 96 teams). To
define what the award should be we decided that it should go to teams who
showed up every week and played hard, didn't complain, showed respect for
both the other team, their own players, and the officials, and who demonstrated
the true ideals of good sportsmen. Here
is a list of teams that deserve to be mentioned as "honerable mentions":
Avengers, Blueball, Burnt Toast, City 1st Mortgage,
Deep Attack, You've Been Facebooked, FNG's, Price Is Right, Reunited, Crazy
8 Utehaters Young Guns, Gunners, and The Fighting
Titans, Yellowpages & Soldiers would have been in the running for
the 5 ultimate winners but they forfeited a few games. Again, there were other
teams that also deserved mention but we did the best we could to narrow it
down. Also, the A division is so competitive that it almost impossible to
expect teams to demonstrate the same level of sportsmanship that the lower
division team's are able to demonstrate since most of the C teams are out
there more for the fun of the sport rather than needing to win. The A division
teams that we felt came the closest would have been
Moose, United, Titans, and Liquid Force.
Now
the 5 winners (each teams gets $10 credit):
PUP List (8 on 8)
MVP's (5 on 5)
Channel 4 News (5 on 5)
Real Azul (5 on 5)
Blue Angels (5 on 5) ***
***the Blue Angels deserve an extra 'mention' because they
were the one B team that won the award. The B division is also very competitive
so it's impressive that they have shown such great sportsmanship for so long,
not only playing in the B division, but being one of the best teams in that
division.

Concession
Stand-
The concession stand that was at the field every Saturday this past spring
in now for sale. We will find out how much Chuck's father in law is selling
it for, but whether or not someone wants to purchase the stand, if anyone
knows of someone who wants to run a concession stand please let us know. It's
a great service to the league and I can help them out by getting them free
or discounted product from various vendors that I work with at my regular
job. Phone: Steve-541-0824 or Dustin- 541-0856. Email: ufa@mindspring.com

RULE
CHANGES FROM 2007- For the most part the 5 on 5 rules will
remain unchanged for UFA teams, except that you now only need 1 foot in bounds,
rather than 2 & you now CANNOT jump forward to advance the ball (you can
jump straight up or back, but not forward, unless you are jumping over a downed
player to avoid injury). On the other hand, 8 on 8 rules will be a little
different and some of the rules will require an adjustment. You also now only
need 1 foot in bounds in 8 on 8. Also, the ball is NO LONGER LIVE on the snap
(the main reason for this change is that it will prevent
injuries to QBs). If the center snaps the ball into the ground, the
ball is dead at the spot (because of that new rule, you are also now required
to snap the ball on punts). Another slight adjustment is that you now go for
1 point extra point conversions from the 3, instead of the 5 (8 on 8 Only).
There's going to be a few other minor rule changes that you may notice in
the official rules. To simpllify, we basically decided to use the UFL 8 on
8 rules for the most part, while we decided to use the UFA 5 on 5 rules as
they were, except for the 1 foot in bounds rule.
We plan to be done with the Fall League on Saturday, Nov. 22 (Saturday before
Thanksgiving).

Spring News- Congratulations to Rob Sirstins of Wolpack, who broke the record for sacks in one game with 7 sacks on May 17, 2008. That was a record that had stood since all the way back in 1996 when Tim Varner of the acclaimed Aw Hell had 6 sacks in one game and also set the record for most sacks in one season in the 8 on 8 format that season with 23.
