Roster/Sportsmanship Policy & Waiver
ALL PLAYERS MUST READ THE FRONT & SIGN THE BACK
We realize that football is a
physical, competitive sport and sometimes player’s emotions get the better of
them. However, unsportsmanlike acts will
not be tolerated. Players or Teams will
be penalized from yardage to fines and up to disqualification from the league
for certain unsportsmanlike acts.
Usually, unsportsmanlike acts are done by individuals rather than whole
teams. It is the responsibility of each
team to make sure all individuals are aware of the rules, policies and
consequences and that the individuals pay fines. If a player commits unsportsmanlike acts it
is the responsibility of all other players on the team to prevent the situation
from escalating by refraining the individual(s), calming them down, and getting
the situation quickly under control.
Players who are disqualified must
leave the field immediately to prevent the team from being disqualified. Depending upon the severity at the discretion
of the referees, Unsportsmanlike acts by individuals may result in the
disqualification of the entire team, especially when more than one player is
involved. Players or teams may or may
not receive warning prior to being penalized, fined, or disqualified, depending
upon the severity and the discretion of the referees. If necessary, the referees will not hesitate
to get the police involved.
Players or spectators who are on the
sidelines and not in the game at the time may not at anytime run on to the
field as the result of a scuffle or any other type of unsportsmanlike act. Players on the field at the time are
responsible for resolving the situation quickly, calmly, and without incident.
Things that constitute
unsportsmanlike acts include: fighting, punching, cheap shots, taunting,
trash-talking, belittling, racial or ethnic slurs, pushing or shoving after a
play, throwing the ball at an opponent, arguing, derogatory comments,
name-calling, etc.
Also, the league will strictly enforce penalties
and/or disqualification for belittling, degrading, demoralizing, etc.,
referees, as well as players, after or during a game. If a player or team is disqualified from the
league they will not be eligible to receive any type of refund. If the incident is serious enough to warrant
such action, the police may also get involved and the tournament officials will
press charges for any type of assault on referees or league officials. All penalties and disqualifications will be
administered at the discretion of referees and league officials. If a team/player is fined, the fine must be
paid before the team’s next game to avoid forfeiture.
Examples of how the
fine system works: 2nd Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalty in the same
game: $15; 3rd
Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalty in the same game: $25, Belittling, degrading,
demoralizing referees during or after a game: $25, Fighting: $50, Bench
Clearing Brawl: $100, Touching a referee: $200. Please note that the amount of fines will be
up to the discretion of refs and league officials and could vary according to
severity.
Acceptance of Waiver and Release:
I know that
participating in the strenuous activity of football is potentially
hazardous. I assume all risks associated
with playing in this activity including, but not limited to, falls, contact
with other players, weather, and conditions of the playing surface, all such
facts being known and appreciated by me.
I am aware that if I do not already have medical insurance coverage for
this event that I and/or my team has the option to purchase medical insurance
and that the league administrators are not responsible for providing medical
insurance coverage for players or teams.
Knowing these facts, I hereby for, my heirs, executors, administrators
or anyone else who might bring claims on my behalf, covenant not to sue, and
waive, release, and discharge the Utah Football Association, West Jordan Middle
School, Sandy City, sponsors, league employees, assigns or anyone acting on
their behalf, from any and all claims of liability for death, personal injury,
or property damage of any kind or nature whatsoever arising out of or in the
course of my participation in this activity.
This release and waiver extends to all claims of every kind or nature of
me or my likeness from this event for any purpose. Applications of minors will be accepted only
with a parent’s or guardian’s permission and signature. I also realize that I am responsible for my
own and my teammate’s conduct. I vow to
present myself and represent my team in a sportsmanlike and respectable
manner. I understand that failure to do
so may result in myself and/or my team being disqualified from the tournament
without a refund of any kind. I have
read the sportsmanship policy within this document and I understand the content
therein and agree to adhere to the policy.
Roster Limits:
There
is now a roster limit for each team. The
purpose of this is because the school district is now charging us for using the
field based upon an amount per player and that amount was figured based upon a
maximum number of players per team that will be using the field and we will
have to pay additional charges for each player beyond the limit in each format.
